The Power of Solar

As the rainy season starts here in the Pacific Northwest, solar power may not be something that is on your mind. But as you hunker down for the short days and gray skies, this might be a good time to start doing research and find programs that provide financial rebates or incentives for moving forward in adding renewable energy to the home.

But where to start?

The Clean Energy Authority has a list of rebates and incentives by state and regions in the state.

“Washington was the second state—following Colorado—to pass its renewable energy standard through a ballot initiative. Under the law established by the 2006 ballot measure, utilities serving more than 25,000 customers in the state must obtain at least 15 percent of their electricity from new renewable resources by 2020.”

Washington State University’s Renewable Energy System Incentive Program has great information on the program, participating utility companies, facts about the program, and more. This program was originally with the state and transferred to WSU.
